As the outward facing part of the organization, the Strategic Partnership team identifies, establishes and builds partnerships with academic institutions, biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies across the world, to help progress the discovery and development of new medicines utilizing Cyclica’s science and technology.
Cyclica’s Machine Learning team provides data-driven models representing biophysical activities. At Cyclica, machine learning model creation and improvements are developed in a deliberate and intentional manner, based on a continuously evolving understanding of the underlying scientific system and its relationship to computational abstractions. The team designs, trains, refines and operationalizes predictive models for uses across the organization and via our web-based platforms. Responsibilities include the development of machine learning software infrastructure, automated data processing, design of informative validation experiments and the development/enhancement of new algorithms and representations.
Cyclica’s Digital Chemistry team builds drug discovery workflows. This involves adopting, adapting, implementing and innovating effective computational solutions to ongoing scientific problems. The team tackles key scientific and technical challenges related to large scale data processing of small molecule compounds and protein structures, high throughput model evaluations, generative molecular design and compound selection strategies. Consequently, they maintain a close relationship with Cyclica’s Drug Discovery experts to identify automatable workflows or new functional needs that require computational support. Additional responsibilities include diligencing external methodologies that emerge from academic literature or industry partners.
Cyclica’s Web and Data Platforms team builds the infrastructure upon which discoveries are made. The team develops a highly intuitive, secure and novel ecosystem of tools that aids drug design and interpretation of disease mechanisms. This includes an intricate network of biological databases and an interactive web-based UI for data visualization and model interpretation. The team also provides a large scale cloud computing infrastructure to staff scientists, which streamlines workflows and explores the largest possible solution space to complex drug discovery questions. Lastly, they provide the software development toolkits and resources that help uphold high coding, documentation, security, and testing standards across the organization.
The Drug Discovery team is responsible for building and progressing Cyclica’s pipeline of drug discovery projects. From a scientific project perspective, this involves assessment and selection of therapeutically relevant biological targets, execution of molecule hit identification and optimization activities to deliver high quality molecules suitable for clinical development. In addition to these drug discovery project responsibilities, the Drug Discovery team is also involved with identifying opportunities for innovative drug discovery technologies and working with other departments in Cyclica (or outside Cyclica) in developing these innovative technologies. The Drug Discovery Team is made of highly skilled and motivated scientists who have capabilities across various drug discovery disciplines as well as having strong communication and engagement skills.
The Innovation team seeks to find and apply new technologies to expand and improve our drug discovery platform. We aim to keep Cyclica an innovation leader in the market and maintain its technological differentiation. Together with the drug discovery and platform teams, we are building a scalable portfolio of innovative projects meant to address new targets, new areas of drug discovery, and new modalities.
