Cyclica announces the appointment of George Bickerstaff and Dr. Kabir Jivraj as Directors.

TORONTO, Canada – June 29, 2015 – Cyclica is excited to announce the appointment of George Bickerstaff and Dr. Kabir Jivraj to its Board of Directors.

Mr. Bickerstaff has deep expertise in global business and financial management within the healthcare and information technology industries. He has started four companies, including his current role as Co-founder and Managing Director of M.M Dillon and Co., and held senior leadership positions in other global companies with a collective market capitalization of over $500 billion. He has served as the Chief Financial Officer of six companies, including Novartis Pharma AG and IMS Health, and member of the board of directors of fifteen companies, including Viventia Biotech, CarDX Inc., and the International Vaccine Institute. He has participated in over $50 billion in mergers and provided more than $2 billion in growth capital to companies. Philanthropically, he is an active member of the board of directors of four international non-profit organizations focused on healthcare and helping children. Mr. Bickerstaff brings to Cyclica expertise in corporate governance, board management, financial management oversight, and a deep network in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical space, as well as in venture capital and private equity.

Dr. Jivraj is an Anesthetist, Intensivist by profession. Prior to being in his present role as Managing Director and Owner of Age Care Investments Ltd, he was the Senior Vice-President and Chief Medical officer of the Calgary Health Region and the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Calgary. He has served as President of the Alberta Medical Association and Hon. Treasurer of the Canadian Medical Assoc. In 2005, the Alberta Medical Association and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta honored him as one of the 100 Alberta’s Physicians of the Century. In 2012, he was among only thirty Canadian physicians that were selected by the Canadian Medical Association to receive the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal. He currently holds an ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors. He currently sits on the Board of the Calgary Police Foundation, the advisory board of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Calgary, and for the past two decades as a Governor on the University of Calgary, Board of Governors. Previously, he served on the board of Trustees for Northern Property Reit (NPR-TSX), Chair of the Board of the United Way of Calgary and Area, and Chair of Focus Humanitarian Assistance (FOCUS) Canada. Dr. Jivraj brings to Cyclica 35+ years of medical and business acumen, rooted in strategic planning and corporate governance.
